September Stitch Fix #2

I was lucky enough to get TWO Fixes in September (fitting, because it’s my birthday month!!). For my second Fix, I was sure to ask for all things fall- layers and sweaters and plaid, a jacket, a plaid button-up, a turtle neck and a dressy sweater/sweatshirt in a longer length.

Kristen M., who continues to be my amazing stylist, pulled through with everything I asked for…and more!

Pinot Textured Front Pullover – $54

img_3758
Pinot Textured Front Pullover

This sweater was great- a beautiful shade of burgundy, a warm Cotton/Rayon blend, and feminine lace detail in the front. It is machine washable, which is a major plus for a sweater like this one. It felt a little boxy on me, however. Not sure why it felt that way exactly, but I wasn’t completely sold. It is a really pretty sweater though, and I think it would be great in fall and winter with leggings, skinny jeans (like pictured) or even a skirt for work. The price for this one was great too!

Verdict- Returned

Dawnty Pullover Hooded Knit Top – $58

This sweatshirt had total workout/chill vibe to me. I could totally picture myself lounging around the house with some fun leggings (like shown), or going on a run outside in it. It is cute-a machine washable Polyester blend- but I wasn’t a huge fan of the short sleeves (fall and winter here are COLD!!). I did like the hood, front pocket and small pop of coral though.

Verdict- Returned

Dolan Open Cardigan – $64

img_3771
Dolan Open Cardigan

I really liked this sweater! It was SUPER warm (100% Acrylic and machine washable), has a fun boho inspired pattern that gave me a throwback vibe, and is an awesome shade of navy blue (one of my favorites!). I honestly was almost sold on this one BUT I have had my eye on a similar sweater that is less expensive online. This decision wasn’t an easy one…

Verdict- Returned

Exner Button Down Tunic- $64

img_3763
Exner Button Down Tunic

This tunic is great! Honestly, it is exactly what I had in mind when I wrote my fall Fix note for Kristen- exactly! It has great colors- burgundy and navy, is machine washable (100% Rayon), and is in a perfect length! This one would have gone in the “sold” pile immediately…had I not just found a plaid tunic on Amazon for $40 less. LOVE this tunic though!!

Verdict- Sadly, Returned

Antsla Jacket- $88

This jacket is so awesome!! The color is unreal- an awesome shade of mustard, the length is spot on, the details are great, and it felt fantastic. It is dry clean only, which is understandable for outerwear, though still not my favorite, and a Rayon blend. This jacket actually gives me buyers remorse- the opposite way…I really wish I would have kept it, as it’s pretty fabulous!

Verdict- Returned (wish I kept!)

Despite me returning everything (a first I think), this Fix was pretty spot on! I’m excited for Kristen’s fall fix for October!

September Stitch Fix #1

Ah- September is here and the end of summer is giving way to my very favorite season- FALL! I will have two September fixes to share with you all this month- one to bring an end to all of the fun summer looks and another to begin the fall fashions of layers and cool weather.

The first September Fix (which was actually a couple of weeks ago- excuse the delay) included a note from Kristen M (my all-star stylist) the read:

“Hi Kristin, it is always such a pleasure to style you and see your comments up on your blog! Thank you for continuing to leave positive feedback, we really appreciate it! I saw a lot of blue denim on your Pinterest board but I wanted to spruce up your closet a little with these olive Pistola skinny pants. The “motto” detail really gives this classic piece a lot of edge and the color is perfect for transitioning into fall. Wear the pants with the Fun2Fun embroidered top for a nice date night. All you need is heels and a small clutch. Or you can wear the pants more casually with the colorful Pixley mixed material top. I also pulled the purple Gilli knit dress for you to wear with ankle boots and a denim jacket for an easy go-to fall ensemble. As always, have fun! xo, Kristen M.”

Gilli Kamile Knit Dress  – $54

img_3276

This dress, while very cute, unfortunately reminded me of the styles that were big in High School- the ruched bust and high waist, and even the (very pretty) bright color. It brought back one too many memories of dances and Catholic-school rules (haha). The 95% Viscose/5% Spandex is hand washable material was a plus but not a redemption.

Verdict- Returned

Pixley Hawn Mixed Material Top- $54 & Pistola Audrey Moto Detail Skinny Pant – $88

img_3281

These motto pants are a fabulous color and the detail on the knee gave just the right amount of spunk to an otherwise regular-old pant. I appreciate that Kristen noticed the amount of plain jean I’ve been pinning and wanted to expand my horizons. The cut of these, as cute as they were on, just didn’t feel right – the waist a bit too high and the the length just a tad too short. I will say that the material (a cotton blend) is crazy soft for a pant, which I really liked.

The top is awesome- full of vibrant color in the 100% Polyester front and grey jersey in the Polyester blend back. The small peep hole is also a fun detail. I must say I was tempted to keep this top, which is hand washable, but my inner budget-conscious fashionista already owns one super similar (and less expensive) from Target.

Verdict- Returned (Both)

Pixley Alicia Printed Pencil Skirt – $48

img_3275This skirt is an all around winner! One- I’m still on the mission to wear more skirts and dresses. Two- It is black and white which means I have a whole closet full of goodies that will look good with it. Three- It has a pattern and length that a perfect for all seasons. Four- The XXXXX fabric is stretchy and fits perfect in all the right places.

Verdict- Kept (Easy one!)

Fun2Fun Hollyanne Embroidered Top- $54

img_3284This top is adorable- for sure. The detail is a really pretty shade of burgundy, which really pops from the off-white of the Rayon (hand washable) material of the shirt. The boho style is definitely in, and the length is perfect- but for some reason I wasn’t totally sold.

Verdict- Returned

September Fix- Fall Edition will be coming your way next week. Stay tuned!!

August Stitch Fix Review

Alright all- before I get into this review I have to apologize for being so absent for so long. We have had way too much going on at our house, and time is speeding by like you wouldn’t believe! I am really going to push for a more regular posting schedule (at least once per week)! Please, hold me accountable!!

As for the August Fix- I didn’t give Kristen  (my amazing stylist) any direction for wants and needs this month, and instead let her use her imagination and go wild! Her note read:

“Hi Kristin, I had so much fun styling this colorful Fix for you! I’m so glad you loved the jeans, I think almost all Stitch Fix employees own them because they are such a great fit! I pulled two new tops for you to wear with your jeans. The pink Collective Concepts cold shoulder top is very boho inspired and a great staple for summer. I also thought you would love the Skies are Blue crochet back top. Back details are a big trend right now and I didn’t want you to miss out! Add a splash of color to your look with the green Miz Mooz slip-on sneakers. For a nice date night, pair the Papermoon maxi dress with scrappy wedges and your chunky Bay to Baubles necklace from your May Fix. Have fun! I can’t wait to read your next blog post! xo, Kristin M”

A few things about her note:

  1. This is the Bay to Baubles necklace (see my June Stitch Fix review) she talks about in her note. I have gotten a lot of wear out of it- both dressing up and down.  IMG_2515
  2. She also mentions the Kut from Kloth Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean. Those jeans (which I absolutely love) are featured below, as well as in my July Stitch Fix Review.
  3. She must have been reading my mind on the Papermoon dress because hubby and I are so in need of a date night 😉

As for the actual review…

Skies are Blue Visperas Crochet Back Top – $48

This top is adorable (shown above with the Kate distressed jean Kristen mentioned from my July Fix)! The 100% Polyester material, which can be hand washed, actually feels more like silk and, though it looks black from afar, the pattern is a super delicate black and cream polka dot. The cream crochet back detail is gorgeous as well. This top is totally something I can see myself in but there are already leave falling in my yard (yikes!!), which means fall is coming. I would hate to cover the back detail with a jacket or sweater, and had to turn this cutie down.

Verdict- Returned

Collective Concepts Atalya Cold Shoulder Top – $48

IMG_3072
Atalya Cold Shoulder Top

Unfortunately, nothing about this shirt tickled my fancy. While I do like the color pink, it is never a color I buy or am drawn to for clothing, and the orange accents made it even less appealing to me. It is definitely boho, just not my style boho. It is 100% Polyester and Dry Clean only (that would make it a no by itself!). Again, the Kate distressed jeans from July’s Fix are also shown above with this top (I told you I loved them!!).

Verdict- Returned

Pixley Royce Hi-Lo Dress – $78

This dress is great! The pattern is flattering, as is the cut, and I love that the back is longer than the front. I think this dress could is perfect alone, but is also awesome paired with a blazer (like shown above). It is 100% Polyester (whoa- lots of Polyester this month!) and hand washable. My son loved this dress, and was heart broken that I put it in the return pile. Why, you ask? Well- I could really only take one dress this month and, well- you’ll see…

Verdict- Returned

Papermoon Jayne Knit Maxi Dress – $68

IMG_3085
Jayne Knit Maxi Dress

I have been on the hunt for a great maxi dress for some time, but have constantly found something I don’t like about whichever one I try on. That was totally not the case with this one! The colors and pattern were already a win, as was the 100% Rayon being hand washable. The high neck and high waist are super flattering, and I loved the shape of the dress once I tried it on. This dress is a total winner, beating out the Hi-Lo dress AND earning a permanent spot in my closet. This dress will translate really well into fall with a simple jean jacket and will be perfect for that well-deserved hubby date night (you were right Kristen!!)

Verdict- Kept

Mix Mooz Serafina Slip-On Sneakers – $59

I tried these memory foam soled sneakers on with my Jayne Knit Maxi Dress just for “kicks” and loved the pop of comfort and color. I know these sneakers would also go well with shorts, jeans, whatever…, and they are crazy comfortable. My problem with sneakers (I hate to say this) is that I am pretty crazy loyal to either A) my chucks or B) my workout shoes. Maybe one day I will step outside my box and into something super cute, like these, but today is just not the day.

Verdict- Returned

Kristen pulled together another great Fix for August! I cannot wait to see what September brings (just in time for my birthday)!!

A note about Stitch Fix:

July Stitch Fix

For my July requests, I went very Boho meets boyfriend style. I was looking for boyfriend jeans, a button down long sleeved shirt, loose t-shirts, a tunic dress, etc. Really I was on the hunt for something that could be worn comfortably on the weekends, but that could also be dressed up with a blazer or some cute heels for work. I have been going through a really big closet purge, leaving room for some staples that can do the dress up/down double duty.

Kristen M. is still my Fixer and her note read:

“Hi Kristin, happy summer! I’m so excited your last Fix was such a hit, I can’t wait to see the pictures up on your blog! I saw your requests for this Fix and did my best to find pieces you will love! First I pulled the Skies are Blue ombre chambray cotton top. It’s an edgy take on a classic but still fun and versatile for your closet. Wear it with the Kut from Kloth boyfriend jeans for an on-trend all denim look or you can wear it with your jogger pants for a super casual outfit. The RD Style tie waist cotton top was another piece that would be great in the summer and pair perfectly with the boyfriend jeans. Just throw on your necklace from last time for a touch of bling. I also thought you would love this light grey Pixley fringe detail top to wear with jeans or capris this season. Enjoy! Xo, Kristin M.”

Can I just say that I love  that Kristen has been my stylist the entire time I have been with Stitch Fix, and is able to suggest pieces I have already purchased to go with the new pieces she sends!

Glennis Ombre Top – $58

IMG_2850
Glennis Ombre Top

This top is so spot on! Stylish and comfy, a fun take on the traditional (like Kristen said), and a great fit. It is 100% Cotton and machine washable and I can think of 1,001 things in my closet that it would go great with! The down side?? I already have a chambray shirt that is an absolute fave. Because of that, I couldn’t justify (sadly) the $58 for another.

Verdict- Returned

Lucasta Knit Top – $38 & Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean – $78

IMG_2738
Lucasta Knit Top & Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean

Both of these pieces are exactly my style! Distressed jeans in a perfect fit? Yes please! Comfortable stripes with a pop of color? Yep! Seriously…the top is super soft and is completely ready for a day out with the kiddos (like above) OR for a cute blazer and some heels for a day at the office. The jeans are Cotton with a touch of Spandex and machine washable, while the top is a Rayon/Polyester blend that can be hand washed.

Verdict- Kept & Kept

Amine Fringe Detail Knit Top – $58

IMG_2841
Amine Fringe Detail Knit Top

Well I know Kristen had the very best of intentions on this one. Unfortunately, it is not really my cup of tea. The 100% Cotton material feels like a short-sleeve sweatshirt, which doesn’t sound appealing to me in the summer months. It also fell a little shorter than I would like for a t-shirt, just barely going below my jean waist.

Verdict- Returned

Striver Tie Waist Top – $68

IMG_2750
Striver Tie Waist Top & Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean

This top is cute- definitely different than anything I own. It is pretty shear, meaning a cami would likely be the solution for me. It doesn’t have much shape (as is the style) but stills hangs and wears really well. I liked it (especially with the Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jeans and a pair of cute wedges) but not enough to justify the price. I just can’t see myself wearing it enough.

Verdict- Returned

Stay tuned for August’s Fix! If you have any suggestions, I am always ready to try new styles!!

June Stitch Fix

With June here and summer weather underway, I left my requests for my latest Fix wide open, telling my stylist to throw whatever she wanted to my way. I don’t usually do this but I really wasn’t feeling anything super specific, and figured a warm weather fashion boost was just what I needed.

Kristen M was still my stylist (absolutely love that they have kept her in place with my Fixes!!), and her note stated pretty simply that she gave me a variety of things that could be mixed and matched for the summer months. Upon opening my box, I have to say I was super excited just to see the colors (so me!!) and the mix match collection (mixing and matching makes your closet go so much farther, without the extra expense!!).

Bradfield Shoulder Pleat Top – $44

IMG_2504
Bradfield Shoulder Pleat Top

This top is beyond cute! I adore the shoulder detail and, despite it being sleeveless, can totally rock this to work without feeling uncomfortable. Though it looks like it is simply a pale gray or blue, it is actually slim navy seersucker, giving it a true summery vibe. This is one of those tops that would look cute with SO much- from skirts to jeans to shorts, and I can see it becoming a summer staple. Above I paired it with a white tank (there are small slits on the side that go just above my jean line, making the tank necessary for work), jeans, and a chunky Stella & Dot statement necklace. It is a Cotton/Nylon blend that can be hand washed.

Verdict- KEPT!

Fitzgerald Crochet Detail Top – $54

The color and details of this top are spot on. Definitely not your everyday tank top, and just as easy to dress up as it is to dress down. I can totally see myself throwing this on for a day at the park (like shown above), or for a date night. The crochet back gives this cutie a touch of girly-girl, which I adore, and the fit is perfect. It is 100% Rayon and hand washable. So far, Kristen is on a roll!

IMG_2516
Fitzgerald Crochet Detail Top

Verdict- KEEPER!!

Nichola Printed Pencil Skirt – $58

IMG_2514
Nichola Printed Pencil Skirt (shown with Bradfield Shoulder Pleat Top & Cloey Crystal Gem Necklace)

I am really trying to wear more skirts and dresses, especially to work- it has become a personal goal of mine. Jeans are just so comfy and easy though, so I always find myself coming back. Because of this draw toward comfort and ease, this skirt is a perfect one for me- spandex stretchy pull on with no buttons or zippers, great color, perfect length, can go with a lot of the colors in my closet, can be worn with flip-flops or heels, etc. The pattern is cute too, giving just the right amount of detail! It is a Polyester blend that can be hand washed.

Verdict- Kept!

Andris Slit Shoulder Knit Top – $48

There is nothing I don’t like about this top. Not one thing! The Rayon/Spandex blend is super soft, it is machine washable (yes!!), the shoulder slit is a perfect accent to a normal tank top, the color is the most brilliant blue, and the list goes on…This is yet another item that can totally be dressed up (seen above with the Walt Skirt and heels) or dressed down (also seen above with Old Navy jean shorts and flip-flops). Probably my most favorite piece from this Fix, I cannot wait to sport it this summer!

Verdict- Kept!! (Four out of four?!?!?!)

Cloey Crystal Gem Necklace – $38

IMG_2515
Cloey Crystal Gem Necklace (shown with Bradfield Shoulder Pleat Top)

While I do think this necklace is super cute, I am pretty attached/loyal to Stella & Dot (and my girlfriends who sell it!). I feel like this piece actually resembles several of their collection. There are some major upsides to this necklace though. One- it is $38!?! A steal for such a cute piece! Two- with all four other pieces scoring as keepers, to not keep this necklace would actually cost me more than to keep it! (Remember that Stitch Fix gives you 25% your total if you keep all five pieces, saving me a total of $60.50 this go around) Besides, I will definitely wear it with some of the pieces included in this Fix, and think it will be fabulous with the little black dress I scored last Fix (Bonita Crochet Dress shown below)!!

FullSizeRender[3]
Bonita Crochet Dress- (See my May Fix)
Verdict- Kept

So, Kristen and I hit the jackpot this go around! Not only did I love this Fix, but paying a grand total of $161.50 for all five pieces (after my Fix credit and 25% off) is amazing! I cannot wait to see what Kristen has in store for my next fix!!

Stay tuned for July’s Fix! If you have any suggestions, I am always ready to try new styles!!

May Stitch Fix

For my May Fix I requested pops of color, a spring blazer/cardigan, another try at a dress, and polka dots. I made sure to Pin lots of goodies as well, so that Kristen could get an idea of the styles I was shooting for. I was ready for some spring/summer goodies and a change up from my winter wardrobe routine. I got to keep Kristen as my stylist (love that!). My note from Kristen read:

“Hi Kristin, it’s great to see you back again! I’m happy you liked the joggers, I searched so hard for those and was really glad they worked out! Since the dresses didn’t work out I am sending two new ones for you to try. The coral Brixon Ivy faux wrap dress is perfect for spring and summer and will really compliment your blond hair. I also pulled this black crochet dress is also by Brixon Ivy. Classic but with a feminine twist. I know you are loving polka dots right now so I grabbed the Market & Spruce top for you to wear with jeans or capris this spring. Add a pop of color to your Walt skirt with the green Skies are Blue lace detail blouse and the floral print Pixley blazer. Both great staples for this time of year! Enjoy! Xo, Kristen M.”

Siene Blazer – $78

FullSizeRender[5]
Siene Blazer
This jacket was super cute in theory – not if you asked my husband…he hated it. Unfortunately, it was too big for me and was missing a button when it arrived. I also felt the thin 100% Polyester felt almost too flimsy. It is machine washable, which is a major plus, but the way it was made wouldn’t have made it a ‘yes’ for me, even if it was my size and had the button.

Verdict- Returned

Niels Lace Yoke Blouse – $48

FullSizeRender[1]

Niels Lace Yoke Blouse
This top was a total winner!! The lace detail on the top is amazing, and the color is great! I’m a total sucker for green and agree with Kristen, that it would be awesome with my February fix Walt skirt! It is 100% Rayon and hand washable. I am pumped to wear this one for work and for play.

Verdict- Definite Keeper!

Colibri Polka Dot Print Top – $48

FullSizeRender
Colibri Polka Dot Print Top

I will give Kristen a definite ‘A’ for effort on this one. It’s funny how spot on she gets my style sometimes…this is the third Fix that has included something super close to something I already own!! While not exact, I do already have a polka dot tab sleeve blouse (mine is from Maurice’s and comes with an awesome pop of pink!), and so no matter how much I liked this shirt there was no way I could justify keeping it. The sleeves are awesome on it though- the picture above shows one sleeve down and the other tabbed. It is 100% Rayon and hand washable.

Verdict: Returned

Kessie Knit Faux Wrap Dress – $64

FullSizeRender[4]
Kessie Knit Faux Wrap Dress
When I first pulled this dress out I was excited! Love the colors and the summer feel. The Rayon/Spandex machine washable mix feels super breathable and lightweight for warmer days. I feel like when I tried the dress on though, it sealed the deal for me in an opposite direction- I am not a wrap dress gal! It’s definitely not that the dress isn’t cute- because it is – it is just not me. The top portion felt a little frumpy and loose (it was slightly too big as well) and the waist didn’t feel flattering. Poor Kristen- she is trying so hard to get me that dress and keeps striking out.

Verdict- Returned

Bonita Crochet Dress – $88

FullSizeRender[3]
Bonita Crochet Dress
And then, she absolutely hits it out of the park with this LBD (I told her a few months back that I was missing a little black dress in my closet – now I will miss it no more!!)! There is nothing I do not love about this dress- and I mean nothing! The high waist is incredibly flattering, the crochet details are super feminine, the length is short enough to accomplish a flirt factor without being too much, and the list goes on! I will say that the dress has a snag in the back- nothing crazy, but it’s a snag. I contacted Stitch Fix and they gave me the choice between 15% off the dress or returning for a new one. I opted for the discount, which made the dress an even better find! I honestly cannot wait to wear this dress year round! It is 100% Polyester and hand washable.

Verdict- KEPT!!! (Possible one of my fave Fix finds thus far!)

Stay tuned for June’s Fix- likely with some summery goods! If you have any suggestions, I am always ready to try new styles!!

A note about Stitch Fix:

April Stitch Fix Review

For my April Stitch Fix I focused completely on spring ❤  I asked for versatile dresses (work friendly, church appropriate and yet still FUN), skinnies and/or joggers, shorts, and a light spring jacket. Kristen M (my streak with Kristen continues!!) pulled in with a major win this month and I have to say I was beyond tempted to order all 5 items!

Her note read: “Hi Kristin, I had so much fun styling this Fix for you! I’m so sorry only the cardigan worked out in your last Fix and hope we have more yes’s than no’s in this box! For a nice Sunday brunch or wine tasting outing with friends, throw on the Skies are Blue cold shoulder dress. I’m so glad you mentioned this dress in your request because I had my eye on it for you! All you need is a few bangles and wedges to complete the look. I know you are interested in dressy joggers and thought you would like to try the grey Laila Jayde joggers. Super comfy for all day wear and can be easily dressed up with a small heel and the bright Skies are Blue lace top. Do a small tuck in the front like on your Pinterest. The black 41Hawthorn faux wrap is the perfect LBD for all year long. Have fun! Can’t wait to hear your feedback! xo, Kristen M”

Seri Knit Moto Jacket – $74

IMG_1766
Seri Knit Moto Jacket

This jacket is too cute! Great jersey like material (really it’s a Cotton/Poly blend that is hand washable). I honestly could not have asked for a better color/style/fit for spring. I feel like this is one of those jackets that could go with so much. The only reason I did not keep this jacket, and believe me- I was tempted!, is because it fit a little too loose in the back/waist area for a jacket that I would never have anything bulky under. Otherwise, this jacket was a solid choice by Kristen!

Verdict- Returned

Shaolin Crepe Cold Shoulder Dress – $58

IMG_1767
Shaolin Crepe Cold Shoulder Dress

Ok- so the funny thing with this dress…I loved it! I think it is fun, cute, comfortable, and easily dressed up/dressed down. I agree with Kristen’s idea on the Sunday brunch dress. It is 100% Rayon and hand washable (another plus). The downside? Everyone that I showed the dress and/or picture to- didn’t love the dress. Talk about a downer! And while I do care more about what I think than what others think- I was thrown off by the fact that not one person liked the dress.

Verdict- Returned

Rocco Jersey Faux Wrap Dress – $78

IMG_1769
Rocco Jersey Faux Wrap Dress

And just to make the circle complete, everyone really liked this dress…except me! Ha! I received a lot of compliments on this Poly/Spandex hand washable dress. Even my kids liked it. And I admit- in the picture it does look super flattering, and I know I could wear it all year long. For some reason though, I didn’t feel comfortable in it. It feels a little heavy, and the neckline threw me for a loop. I really appreciate Kristen’s diversity in picking the dresses she sent though…I’m not giving up on letting her find the perfect one!

Verdict- Returned

Nicki Jogger Pant- $58

IMG_1770
Nicki Jogger Pant

I’ve been asking for the dressy joggers and Kristen pulled through with these 100%. Love the fit, material (Cotton/Poly hand washable), and the fact they are just dressy enough to pull off for work! While I do like the grey/green color that they are, I wish they would have been black- only because my Target non-dressy joggers (a $19 score!) are so close in color/look.

IMG_1773
Nicki Jogger Pant vs My Target Comfies

Even with the close color though, I can’t pull off my Target joggers at work or church…

Verdict – Kept!

Disanto Lace Detail Top – $48

IMG_1772
Disanto Lace Detail Top

When I pulled this top out, I wasn’t sure about it. It is cute- for sure- but I was’t sure it would be a keeper. And then I put it on and fell in love… I threw on a pair of jean shorts and it worked great, but I can only imagine how adorable it can be dressed up with a skirt (I can’t wait to pair it with my Walt Skirt from February), my favorite grey skinnies and some booties, or even the Nicki Joggers, like Kristen mentioned. It is Poly/Rayon hand washable.

Verdict: Kept!

Bring on May! I cannot wait for more spring/summer gear!

March (Spring!) Stitch Fix

For this Stitch Fix I requested a few things: patched elbows, a tote bag that would be stylish and still work for a mom, dressy joggers and spring colors! Kristen M was my stylish again and her note read: “Hi Kristin, it’s always great to see you back for another Fix and I love reading your comments on the blog, so fun! I was incredibly happy when I saw the Honey Punch striped cardigan was available It has patched elbows just like you requested and looks great with the Papermoon cotton top and skinny jeans. Just throw your daily essentials into the Street Level tote. We didn’t have and true “dressy joggers” but I did pull these printed straight leg pants by Lysse. Pair them with the Papermoon top or coral Skies and Blue blouse. Enjoy your new Fox! xo, Kristen M.

Gelsey Crochet Blouse – $58

FullSizeRender[9]
Gelsey Crochet Blouse
This shirt is ok…I love the color but am not a fan of the length or cut. It is a little boxy, and made my waist look bigger than it should. Up close, the feminine details are gorgeous (complete with an eyelet hook top…you know, to hook on every single piece of crochet as you try to put it on), but the femininity alone could not sell me. It has a Cotton/Nylon shell and Polyester lining and is hand washable.

Verdict: Returned

Cassie Printed Cuffed Straight Leg Pant – $98

FullSizeRender[8]
Cassie Printed Cuffed Straight Leg
I’m afraid there is not one good thing I can say about these pants… First, the size were too big for me…they fell off my waist and were crazy baggy in the legs. These pants are very heavy- they are a Polyester blend, which feel much more like the thick, heavy 70’s polyester than the polyester of the last few decades. All in all the pattern, heaviness, and fit all reminded me of something my grandma would wear (and I mean that in the nicest way possible, my grandma was as stylish lady…just not me kind of stylish). Most definitely not me… The plus for anyone who digs these? They are machine washable.

Verdict: Returned- DEFINITELY Returned

Lenox Shoulder Detail Top – $54

This top is cute…very spring and summer! The color is almost a light/off denim and one shoulder has two buttons to close. I like that the back is completely open, and feel this shirt could go with so many things in my closet…layered with a tank when it’s warmer- shielded with a sweater in cooler temps. I also like that the neckline is perfect for all sorts of necklace options! It is 100% Cotton and machine washable.

Verdict: Returned- ONLY because I could not justify the price on a tank

Harlan Removable Pocket Reversible Tote- $68

Adorable tote! Love the colors- both of them- and the fact it is both reversible and has a removable clutch. The problem, for me, is that there are no zipper compartments or pockets for me to separate anything in the bag. I’m pretty particular about where things are in my purse, so that I can find things when I am looking for them. Otherwise, I loved this bag!

Verdict: Returned

Layla Elbow Patch Detail Cardigan – $48

There is nothing I don’t love about this sweater! The patched elbows are exactly I was looking for, and I am a major sucker for cardigans. The stripes are wide enough to not be nauseating, and the grayish-blue color offsets perfectly with the off-white. A MAJOR win by Kristen on this one. It is a blend and it machine washable…yes!

Verdict: Kept- Of course!

Can’t wait until April!! If you have any suggestions of what to ask for, shoot me a message…I am always up to try new styles!!

February 2016 Stitch Fix Review

For my February Stitch Fix, I was pretty specific in my notes about what I was looking for. I included a fur vest, a skirt for work, a blazer (NOT in grey or black), and tops that could be worn to both work and on lazy days around town. My stylist, Kristen M once again (score!), delivered on every single wish I included…Happy Valentine’s Day to me!

Kristen’s note was great- I really appreciate the fact that she is getting to know me more and more with each Fix. I am thankful that she has been my constant “Fixer” thus far!fullsizerender10

Rebekah Stretch Crepe Blazer – $88

fullsizerender
Rebekah Stretch Crepe Blazer

The color of this blazer is fabulous! I love the coral, I think it could go with so many things in my closet, and the accessorizing could go on for days. It is a Polyester Rayon blend shell with an adorable white and black polka dot Polyester lining. It is dry clean only (if you know me- I hate going to the dry cleaner), but with a blazer that sort of comes with the territory so that alone can’t rule it out. I was all in when I took this out of the box…sold at first sight…but I found it was too big when I put it on. I think one size smaller would be great, and I am going to see if they have it available before making up my mind.

Verdict- Likely a KEEP if they have a size down

Celso Mesh Detail Knit Top – $54

Unlike the blazer, this top did not hit me with a wow factor when I first saw it. I’m not really a huge floral fan, and didn’t think it would it would do anything for me when I put it on. That is, until I put it on… and found that I actually really liked it! I paired it with an army green blazer and skinny jeans, but think it would be awesome with a cream blazer, a skirt, or leggings and boots. It is a Rayon Spandex blend that can be machine washed.

Verdict-Last minute decision, but I’m leaning towards KEPT

Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse – $48

fullsizerender7

I have to give it to Kristen on this one. LOVE this shirt! So much so that I already own one almost exactly like it, lol. Mine is from Kohl’s, and probably quite a bit less expensive, but it is literally one of my closet staples!

The Colibri blouse is 100% Polyester and hand washable, which is definitely doable. I SO recommend a top like this for pretty much anyone…it is super versatile and can be work with everything from jeans, to dress pants, to leggings and skirts (see Walt Skirt next). For me, of course, I have to pass it up or my husband just might lose his mind 🙂

Verdict- RETURNED

Walt Skirt- $68

fullsizerender6
Walt Skirt

Walt Skirt

This skirt is fabulous. The stripes are small enough to not make you look wider than you are (or like BeetleJuice) and the pencil cut is perfect for work. I tried the skirt both dressed up (with the Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse and booties) and dressed down (with a denim top and tall boots) and thought it worked great both ways. I am not a huge skirt wearer, and I requested one for just that reason…to push myself a little bit. The skirt is Polyester Spandex blend and hand washable. A definite winner…says both my husband too!

Verdict- KEPT

Buster Faux Fur Vest- $78

fullsizerender4
Rebekah Stretch Crepe Blazer

I had requested a faux fur vest for January but Kristen did not have one in stock. This month she definitely pulled through though with a vest I adore! I have been Pinterest stalking faux fur vests for a bit and I have to say this one fit the bill perfectly…love how versatile this can be (next I’m going to try it with a black dress like Kristen recommended), love the length, love that it is hand washable, love that I got it in time to wear for a few more months! Love!

Verdict- KEPT

I can’t wait until March! Getting ready to request some gear for SPRING!!

January 2016 Stitch Fix

My third Stitch Fix was also the first of 2016! When I filled out my suggestions for the month, I was pretty generic (besides for the fur vest I requested) and basically just said that tops for work and/or relaxing would be great!

Kristen M was my stylist again (all of my fixes have been by Kristen so far, which is nice). She stated in her note that they didn’t have any fur vests available, but that she would keep her eye out in the future. She did include, though, tops galore!

Warner Pullover Sweater- $68

IMG_1173
Warner Pullover Sweater

This sweater was cute…I felt like it belonged in front of a fireplace at a cabin, but thought about definite possibilities of dressing it up with some cute skinnies or a great skirt. A scarf or statement necklace would do wonders for the neck. It is 100% Acrylic and dry clean only (oh, oh!). I usually stay away from thinner sweaters like this because I’m constantly worried about snags.

Verdict: Returned

Bixby Bird Print Tab Sleeve Blouse – $48

IMG_1170
Bixby Bird Print Tab Sleeve Blouse

IMG_1177.JPGThis top was a dream for work! Love the pattern, which reminded me of feathered version of houndstooth, and the satiny feel (really, it is 100% Polyester and hand washable- WIN!). The sleeves are finished with a dainty pearl-like button that makes it even more feminine. I paired it with some wide-legged black pants and a costume pearl necklace, but think it would be adorable dressed up with a pencil skirt, or dressed down with a pair of leggings or jeans.

Verdict: Kept

Fanta Mixed Material Sweater – $78

IMG_1168
Fanta Mixed Material Sweater

This sweater is all the trend right now- with the plaid back contrasting the cream colored sweater front. It screams comfort and could be worn in so many different ways. For the weather we’ve been having this winter, I think this sweater would be amazing. It is a Poly blend front with 100% Cotton contrast, and can be hand washed. The problem? It was too big and looked somewhat frumpy on me. I am contemplating calling Stitch Fix to try a size smaller, but haven’t yet decided.

Verdict: Returned (but may request to try a size smaller)

York Tile Print Roll-Tab Blouse – $58

IMG_1171
York Tile Print Roll-Tab Blouse

Another cute top for work AND play. This one has a fun pattern…a sort of paisley that includes gold, blue and pink set on a dark purple/blue color. The sleeves roll and button, giving you the 3/4 sleeve length. It is 100% Polyester and is hand washable. While I like the top, it is not really in my normal color-scheme, and I worry I wouldn’t wear it often enough to justify the price.

Verdict: Returned

Amari Stripe Sleeve Cargo Jacket – $78

IMG_1176
Amari Stripe Sleeve Cargo Jacket

I am a major fan of this jacket! Kristen mentioned in her note that the striped sleeves give the effect of a vest, and I totally agree. I sort of feel the varsity jacket kind of vibe from it. It is a Poly blend and can be hand washed. It is light enough to be able to wear during spring and fall, but definitely needs some umpf (like the scarf) for the winter months. A great one for layering.

Verdict: Kept
