My husband and I have owned and used lots of different cookware in our time. Our pot set, which was handed down from my parents when we got married, is from Amway (Amway Queen Cookware) and, despite being older than I am, it still looks like new, cooks beautifully, and never stains or sticks. I seriously love my pot set! Pans, however, we have not had as much luck with…we have tried Cuisinart, Calphalon, Analon and more and have never found a set that works for us. Some have been ok, yes, but eventually they have all let us down and forced us to go searching for yet another pan set…
In steps Sur La Table and their GreenPan Healthy Ceramic Nonstick Skillets. No joke- these are, by far, the best pans I have ever owned. Nothing sticks to these pans- nothing…eggs? no butter needed…meat? slides right around the pan with no spray…pancakes? no oil necessary…and that is just the beginning. Clean-up is so super easy, with even dried sauce literally sliding off. The nonstick coating of these skillets is also eco-friendly, safe, and non-toxic, and they are dishwasher safe (though I would never put mine in the dishwasher). Sur La Table offers these pans in a few different colors, and the turquoise brought a little pick me up to our kitchen. I would totally recommend these pans to anyone looking for a new set. The price is definitely worth the quality!
Note: I was not asked to review these pans, nor have I had any contact with, or compensation from, Sur La Table or GreenPan…I just love their pans!!
My third Stitch Fix was also the first of 2016! When I filled out my suggestions for the month, I was pretty generic (besides for the fur vest I requested) and basically just said that tops for work and/or relaxing would be great!
Kristen M was my stylist again (all of my fixes have been by Kristen so far, which is nice). She stated in her note that they didn’t have any fur vests available, but that she would keep her eye out in the future. She did include, though, tops galore!
Warner Pullover Sweater- $68
Warner Pullover Sweater
This sweater was cute…I felt like it belonged in front of a fireplace at a cabin, but thought about definite possibilities of dressing it up with some cute skinnies or a great skirt. A scarf or statement necklace would do wonders for the neck. It is 100% Acrylic and dry clean only (oh, oh!). I usually stay away from thinner sweaters like this because I’m constantly worried about snags.
Verdict: Returned
Bixby Bird Print Tab Sleeve Blouse – $48
Bixby Bird Print Tab Sleeve Blouse
This top was a dream for work! Love the pattern, which reminded me of feathered version of houndstooth, and the satiny feel (really, it is 100% Polyester and hand washable- WIN!). The sleeves are finished with a dainty pearl-like button that makes it even more feminine. I paired it with some wide-legged black pants and a costume pearl necklace, but think it would be adorable dressed up with a pencil skirt, or dressed down with a pair of leggings or jeans.
Verdict: Kept
Fanta Mixed Material Sweater – $78
Fanta Mixed Material Sweater
This sweater is all the trend right now- with the plaid back contrasting the cream colored sweater front. It screams comfort and could be worn in so many different ways. For the weather we’ve been having this winter, I think this sweater would be amazing. It is a Poly blend front with 100% Cotton contrast, and can be hand washed. The problem? It was too big and looked somewhat frumpy on me. I am contemplating calling Stitch Fix to try a size smaller, but haven’t yet decided.
Verdict: Returned (but may request to try a size smaller)
York Tile Print Roll-Tab Blouse – $58
York Tile Print Roll-Tab Blouse
Another cute top for work AND play. This one has a fun pattern…a sort of paisley that includes gold, blue and pink set on a dark purple/blue color. The sleeves roll and button, giving you the 3/4 sleeve length. It is 100% Polyester and is hand washable. While I like the top, it is not really in my normal color-scheme, and I worry I wouldn’t wear it often enough to justify the price.
Verdict: Returned
Amari Stripe Sleeve Cargo Jacket – $78
Amari Stripe Sleeve Cargo Jacket
I am a major fan of this jacket! Kristen mentioned in her note that the striped sleeves give the effect of a vest, and I totally agree. I sort of feel the varsity jacket kind of vibe from it. It is a Poly blend and can be hand washed. It is light enough to be able to wear during spring and fall, but definitely needs some umpf (like the scarf) for the winter months. A great one for layering.
Verdict: Kept
A note about Stitch Fix:
It’s a super easy to use service…you fill out a style profile, choose the prices you would be willing to pay per each item type, and decide how often you want to get styled. You have the option of setting up your own Stitch Fix Pinterest board that your stylist can look at while styling you. A stylist from Stitch Fix will then be your own personal stylist for however often you choose to receive a box, sending you 5 items based on your style profile, Pinterest board, and personal instructions. If you purchase an item, the $20 service fee goes towards it, if you keep all 5 items, they take 25% off, or you can send all the items back and they only keep the $20.
